For the Base
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Gooey Layer
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3½ cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the base layer
In a bowl mix the cake mix, egg, and melted butter until a thick dough forms. Press evenly into the bottom of the baking dish. - Prepare the gooey topping
Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Gradually beat in melted butter and powdered sugar until creamy. - Assemble
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake base and spread evenly. - Bake
Bake for 35–40 minutes. The center should remain slightly gooey. - Cool and serve
Let cool completely, then cut into squares. Sprinkle with extra powdered sugar if desired.
