
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 4 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line your cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (very important step).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Mix in vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with milk (start and end with dry ingredients).
- Mix until smooth—don’t overmix.
- Pour into pan and bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Tips for perfect texture:
- Use room temperature ingredients
- Cream butter + sugar well for a fluffy crumb
- Don’t overbake → keeps it moist
