
Ingredients
Shortbread base
- 1 cup (225 g) butter, softened
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
Caramel filling
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp honey or corn syrup
- 1 can (395 g / 14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- ½ tsp salt
Topping
- Flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mix butter and sugar until creamy. Add flour and salt and mix to form a dough.
- Press dough evenly into the pan.
- Bake 18–20 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan melt butter, brown sugar, honey, condensed milk, and salt.
- Cook on medium heat 5–8 minutes, stirring until thick caramel forms.
- Pour caramel over the baked shortbread.
- Bake again 10–12 minutes.
- Cool completely, sprinkle flaky sea salt, then cut into squares.
