🥩🥔 Smothered Pork Chops with Potatoes

📝 Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in pork chops
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3–4 potatoes (peeled & sliced) 🥔
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tsp thyme (optional)

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Season & coat pork chops
    Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
    Lightly dredge in flour.
  2. Sear the pork chops
    Heat olive oil in a large skillet.
    Brown chops on both sides (3–4 minutes each).
    Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook onions & garlic
    In the same pan, melt butter.
    Add onions and cook until soft and golden (5–7 minutes).
    Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
  4. Start the gravy
    Add a little leftover flour and stir.
    Slowly pour in chicken broth and milk/cream.
    Stir until smooth and slightly thick.
  5. Add potatoes
    Layer sliced potatoes into the gravy.
  6. Combine everything
    Place pork chops on top of the potatoes.
    Sprinkle thyme if using.
  7. Simmer
    Cover and cook on low heat for 30–40 minutes until:
    • Potatoes are tender
    • Pork chops are juicy and fully cooked

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Serve straight from the skillet 🍳
  • Add a side of green beans or salad 🥗
