- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cups whole milk

1. Prep
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans. Line the bottom with parchment paper for perfectly round cakes.
2. Mix dry ingredients
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. Cream butter & sugar
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes).
4. Add eggs & vanilla
- Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
5. Combine wet & dry
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
6. Bake
- Divide batter evenly into prepared pans.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.
