📝 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar (adjust for sweet or savory)
  • ½ cup (115g) cold butter (cubed)
  • ¾ cup (180ml) cold milk (or buttermilk)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for sweet scones)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Mix dry ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar

2. Cut in butter

  • Add cold butter
  • Rub with fingers or use a pastry cutter until mixture looks like crumbs

3. Add liquid

  • Pour in cold milk (and vanilla if using)
  • Mix gently until dough just comes together
  • Do NOT overmix (important for soft scones!)

4. Shape

  • Turn dough onto a floured surface
  • Pat into a 2–3 cm thick circle
  • Cut into triangles or rounds

5. Chill (secret tip!)

  • Chill in fridge for 15–20 minutes for better rise

6. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F)
  • Brush tops with milk
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden
